Penny-farthing races! Specifically, the National Penny Farthing Races from Evandale in February. Penny farthing racing is, as you can see, a nice, slow, genteel sport.

Actually, this is the Slow Race, where the last person over the line wins.

And riding a bike of any kind slowly causes problems….

He looks a bit worried  because he hasn’t quite got his balance and I think he’s the one who, a few seconds later, ran into the watching crowd i.e. me (although I stepped back and he mostly got the poor kid next to me.)

It’s best for photos to get close to the action, of course.
